Pineapple is a common fruit in the tropics and it is well-known for its yellowish flesh that is a cross between sweet and sour. Not everyone likes this fruit though as it is said that too much of that will ‘cut’ your stomach. Which is precisely the reason why it is the main ingredient used in this detox recipe. Not to worry, like all food, consuming it in moderation is always the way to go. Scientifically, pineapple contains the enzyme called “bromelain” which according to the National Institute of Health helps to break down protein and I suppose it is this enzyme that will “clean” the body in the detoxing process.

According to consumerresources.in, “pineapples contain bromelain, an enzyme with anti-inflammatory properties. It fights infections and kills bacteria. The juice from fresh pineapples can suppress coughs five times more effectively than cough syrup. One cup of pineapple juice contains nearly 50% of the daily requirement for vitamin C intake”.

Pineapple and its cross section

Here are the ingredient list:

1. 2 to 3 thick slices of fresh pineapple.
2. 1/2 slice of cucumber.
3. 1/3 cup of aloe vera juice
4. 1/2 cup of coconut water.

Steps:

1. Blend all slices of pineapple and the cucumber
2. Pour the mixture into a container.
3. Mix it with aloe vera juice and coconut water

That’s it. Have a good detox weekend!
